an enlightening experiment

I found a way to get out of the 'stuck in emotion' trap.
ofcourse it can be used in other situations as wekk, for example its
a good exercise towards a quest of self-discovery/analysis.

heres how:
At any arbitrary point of time, if its possible, try to find out
what emotion ur going thru, i mean try to label the undergoing emotion
in ur mind. The moment u identify, infact the very process will pop you
out of that particular emotive state. ofcourse u can say this is nothing
but replacing ur emotive state of mind with a rational mode of 'finding out',
and hence is very obvious, the after-effect i mean. but wats perplexing is that
most people dont even seem to be even aware of such a thing, infact if u do
this often, u will have that better control over urself, u will have discovered
more abt you and hence technically you wud be farther on the road to
self-enlightenment than many. phew...thats a lot of cliches;)

pls do try this on urself. it is quite fascinating.

Disclaimer: I do not say this is original, pathbreaking stuff, I think
every Buddist and NLP practictioner must have similar exercises,
jus that im sure I didnt consciously plagiarize. But maybe it was my
unconscious which came up with this taking input from the various
eastern philosophy books I must have read.

Addon: This simple experiment probably occurred to me when I was
striving to distinguish between feeling and thinking.

let me see if I made sense of what you are saying and then try to say it ...
if you are stuck within yourself ..get out look from the other-man perspective.
if you are stuck with the world/society in short other-man go into self introspection...

Can you tag being yourself ..probably not ..(assumption is you are lost in emotive state and therefore not thinking)

nice blog ...

you put it very nicely and extend
it, but also digress a bit.

Other-man isnt equal or related to
world/society.
World/Society are external factors and
affect ur mental state.
The starting point for the exercise is ur mental state(just a higher abstraction), which can be
affected by both external and internal factors.

Sometimes u get stuck in ur mental state(mostly emotion), most of the time people dont even realise they are stuck, but IF it happens that you can hook into that state and shift into an observer mode and try to analyse the very state u are/were in, that will pop you out of that state and not just temporarily!

Other-Man is i wud say ur Observer-Mode, a third-person mode.

thanks for the feedback:), appreciate it!

an addition to the same is of addiction - the 'cyclical' stream which keeps you getting back to the 'stuck emotion' at hand cause the emotion is too strong. The observer state is able to give logic cause one is thinking deliberately and can help the pop-out at that moment, but the sub concious at most other times would play a vital role in getting the same thots back...

ur blog is interesting...
